Single-Layer Single-Patch Four Band E-Shape Notch and Symmetrically H-slot Loaded Compact Rectangular Patch Antenna for X-Band Applications

چکیده

AbstractThis paper represents the design of microstrip patch antenna for X-band applications. This antenna can be designed at a single layer single patch four band, E-shape notch and symmetrically H-shape slots loaded compact antenna. The designed antenna can be used for Search and Rescue Radar Transponders (SART) and in Civil, Military Navigation Radars (MNR). The four band antenna is achieved by cutting E-shape notch and three symmetrically H-shape slots in the rectangular patch, shorting pin is also loaded in this patch antenna. The designed antenna has width of the patch, W = 37.21mm and length of the patch, L= 28.89 mm. Rogers RO3003 dielectric substrate is used as a substrate layer which has dielectric constant of 3.0 and thickness of dielectric substrate is 0.75 mm. Using this antenna, impedance bandwidths with return loss (-10dB) of 0.56%, 1.8%, 0.83% and 4.18% were achieved at center frequencies 8.96GHz, 9.32GHz, 9.67GHz and 10.51GHz, with gains of 7.02dBi,7.09dBi,9.05dBi and 8.52dBi respectively. The advantages of the resultant configurations are a) Simple in design b) Inset feed is used for proper impedance matching c) The structure remains single layer and single patch. It can also be used for military communication and wideband global satellite communication system (WGS). Designing and simulation of this antenna has been done by IE3D software, which is based on MOM method.
